UJI

is the granddaughter of an old-school tailor and the daughter of a feminist fashion designer.

She often says, "Fine taste is my family heirloom." She puts detail and style into everything she does.

Uji studied International Fashion Design at Polimoda in Florence and at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, but her real fashion education started early at her mother's atelier or should we say in her mother's womb!

UJI and is born out of her unwillingness to be a part of the work force that created and maintains Fast Fashion Culture. Having grown up wearing thoughtfully designed and hand-made garments from her mother's atelier all through her  childhood, her relationships to fashion has always been different from that of her peers, as a consumer as well as a designer. UJI and is a continuation of her family legacy but with her spin on it.

Music is her quiet passion. She currently is a soprano member of the Master Voices Chorus performing 3 concerts a year. She can never say no to opera invitations. She has her rock band names suggested by her friends, all of which happen to start with "UJI and the," and they keeps coming.
